Technology Designer Performance Home Award
This project was honored with the 2025 Technology Designer Performance Home Award for Best Design, a recognition that speaks to the seamless integration of architecture, aesthetics, and technology.
From the very beginning, the client made it clear that performance and subtlety had to go hand in hand. Nowhere was this more evident than in the theater, where he insisted that vocals from the center channel remain crystal clear above all else. SAV partnered with Paradise Theater and Steinway Lyngdorf to achieve precisely that, using RoomPerfect™ acoustic calibration and a Stewart Vistascope screen to deliver a viewing and listening experience that earned the highest praise—not just from the client, but from the industry.
Designed as a year-round mountain retreat, the residence blends the warmth of a traditional cabin with the conveniences of modern living. It features an indoor pool, golf simulator, theater, shaded sunroom, wine cellar, and an array of hidden technologies, all engineered to disappear into the architecture.
Throughout the home, details were just as intentional. Over forty motorized shades were concealed in millwork designed with Miller-Roodell Architects. Lutron Palladiom keypads, in custom finishes, were selected for their timeless look and intuitive functionality. Vesda aspirating smoke detectors, nearly invisible to the eye, replaced conventional detectors that would have disrupted the home’s character. Even the family’s grand piano can be played remotely by the client’s children and heard throughout the house via distributed audio.
For the homeowner, technology wasn’t just about convenience—it was about laying the groundwork for a smart home that could evolve with his own interests. As he put it:
“My ultimate goal with the technology in the home was to have the infrastructure specified, installed, and integrated when the home was completed, but to evolve the systems and control over time through my own tinkering as I learned how I wanted them to operate.”
The result is a home that exceeded the client’s expectations and captured the attention of the industry, earning a Performance Home Award for Best Design. It stands as a testament to collaboration, precision, and vision—proof that technology and design, when in harmony, create something truly award-worthy.
