We’re grateful to see Mountain Vista recognized with a 2026 Technology Designer Performance Home Award for Best Design.
Great projects are the result of great teams and great partnerships, and this residence is no exception. Working alongside Studio H Design, Alder & Tweed, and Lohss Construction, SAV helped create a home where sophisticated technology supports the architecture, interiors, and everyday experience without competing for attention.
Recognition like this belongs to the entire team.
Mountain Vista presented an interesting opportunity from the outset. The homeowner acquired the property midway through construction from a previous SAV client, meaning portions of the home's technology infrastructure had already been designed and installed.
Rather than treating the existing infrastructure as a limitation, our team took the opportunity to rethink the technology strategy around the new homeowner's vision.
The goal was straightforward but demanding: create a home where technology enhances everyday living, entertainment, and comfort while remaining visually discreet and sympathetic to the architecture.
With expansive views, a natural material palette, and a relaxed mountain aesthetic defining the residence, technology needed to complement the environment—not become the focal point.
Large expanses of glass, carefully framed sightlines, and thoughtfully selected natural materials left little room for visible technology. Displays, speakers, controls, shades, and other elements had to be carefully integrated into the architecture and interiors.
SAV conducted a comprehensive review of the home's existing infrastructure to determine what could remain, what needed to change, and where the system could be expanded.
Network architecture was upgraded, structured cabling pathways were refined, and equipment locations were optimized to support both the homeowner's immediate needs and the home's long-term scalability.
Throughout the process, one principle guided our approach: adapt the technology to the architecture rather than adapting the architecture to the technology.
Different areas of the home were designed around different ways of gathering, entertaining, and relaxing.
A dedicated home theater, developed in collaboration with CinemaTech, features JBL Synthesis audio, a fiber-optic starlit ceiling, and a custom projector enclosure designed to eliminate operational noise.
A separate media room creates a more flexible environment for gaming and movie viewing, while the home's gym incorporates James Loudspeaker audio alongside unique features including an indoor climbing wall.
Even behind the scenes, details mattered. When the originally planned equipment racks proved too deep for their designated spaces, the SAV team rebuilt both racks by hand to create custom-fit solutions that improved serviceability, reliability, and long-term performance.
The finished residence demonstrates what can happen when architecture, interior design, construction, and technology are approached as complementary parts of the same vision.
Concealment played an important role throughout the residence.
Hidden in-wall and in-ceiling speakers provide high-performance audio while preserving clean surfaces and sightlines. Display locations were carefully coordinated around the architecture and surrounding landscape, while automated shading helps manage comfort and energy without compromising the home's connection to its natural setting.
At the homeowner's request, SAV also replaced the originally specified control platform with a fully integrated Savant ecosystem, bringing audio, video, lighting, shading, and climate control together through a single intuitive interface.
The result is sophisticated technology that remains largely in the background of daily life.
Despite the complexity of the technology throughout Mountain Vista, the systems remain intentionally understated. Concealed audio, carefully integrated displays, automated shading, and simplified control preserve the home's clean aesthetic and visual openness while providing the performance expected of a modern residence.
Most importantly, the technology supports the way the family actually lives—whether gathering together, entertaining, relaxing, or enjoying the surrounding landscape.
We’re proud of the work our SAV team contributed to Mountain Vista, but even more appreciative of the partnerships that made the finished home possible. Receiving a 2026 Technology Designer Performance Home Award for Best Design is meaningful recognition of what can be accomplished when a talented team works toward a shared vision.
